Basics of Managing Content |

For most Joomla website owners, managing the content of your website is the most important facet to operating your site with the Joomla CMS. Except in unusual circumstances, most content within your site will be managed in one of the following four main areas of your Joomla administrator panel:
- "Menus" are rows or lists of 'buttons' that appear on various pages of the site. Depending on what "Type" of menu item you create and what "Parameters" you assign to the Menu Item, the menu item will link to a different type of layout and features in the site.

- "Articles" are content files that are organized according to "Section" and "Category", and can display static text, images, links, and videos. You can create Menu Items that link directly to a single article, or that link to Sections or Categories of Articles with multiple display variations. You can also add Modules to Article pages in order to enrich the functionality of these pages.

- "Components" are advanced applications that run within the Joomla framework and have been installed by your website developer. Each Component will have its own unique set of controls to facilitate the administration of the features within that Component.
Components: Here you can manage content that is contained within special Components of the site (these include applications such as VirtueMart, JomSocial, and Eventlist)
- "Modules" are akin to 'windows' of information that are displayed on certain pages of your site. These are typically peripheral to the main content on any page (the main content being defined by the Menu Item that leads to the specific page), and can be added

Now let's take a closer look at how to create an article with a menu linking to that article... |
